Patch Notes
Last month I promised I was working on pricing but I put that on hold for some other new features we needed now!
Over the last month or so we've been finishing quite a few houses. In fact, this year we'll finish 5 homes and all of them will be in the second half of the year! This is exciting but it can be a lot for a really small team to keep track of.
Task Management
This led me into building an entire task management system. I previously had a poorly designed task management system for making selections but I've overhauled the entire process to allow for being able to create, sort, complete, and have discussions on tasks.
You are able to quickly write up simple tasks as you wish from your desktop. However, this was not the workflow I cared about. What I wanted was VERY rapid documentation of tasks in the field. This means I wanted to be able to walk into a room on the job site, look around for any punch list items, and quickly add them to Fixture and Finish. The "quick" part was key so there's a few special features to make this very fast:
All of this is super quick from a mobile device and makes punching out a house a breeze.
Notifications
We also overhauled notifications. I found it very annoying when I would have notifications in app and I would need to leave the work I was doing to clear them. Now, you can easily clear them from any page. Additionally, if you ever imported a selection and were waiting for it to finish, you don't need to refresh the page any longer. All notifications are now streamed to your browser so as soon as it's done, your notifications will update in real time.
Detailed Drawings
Lastly, we largely build our houses based on what the architects provide to us. I generally consider these the "Plans." However, these aren't the only documents we use to guide the construction process. Throughout construction we will develop cabinet plans with our cabinet designers, we will develop wall plans for more complex plumbing or electrical work, and we will draw trim details as we see the house unfold. All of these are what I would call "Detailed Drawings". They are usually unique to a few places in the house so you can find this new tab on the room page. You can easily upload a PDF that you find yourself referencing throughout construction that is specific to that room.
In addition to all these new features, we also fixed a handful of bugs:
We still have a lot of actual homes to build but hopefully I'll squeeze in a few more features before the holidays hit:
