About us

Custom Builder Select grew from my lifelong ties to homebuilding. My father worked for several big builders when I was a kid and then started his own homebuilding company in the aftermath of the 2008 housing crisis. Growing up on construction sites, I learned to love building of any kind and decided to study engineering when I went to college. After I graduated, I founded a software company, ran it for about a decade, and sold it in 2021.

My wife and I moved back to Maryland to start our family. We bought a 1950s mid-century modern fixer-upper and took on a major gut renovation, carefully restoring its original charm. While working with my father on this project and several other custom homes, I was struck by how chaotic and time-consuming it was to manage selections. Just knowing what we needed - light fixtures, valves, faucets, trim - was hard enough. Then we had to actually pick them all out! That challenge inspired me to build software to make the process easier.

Custom Builder Select focuses on one thing: organizing selections for custom home builders, designers, and architects. Every other tool out there is designed to do everything under the sun and costs too much. Our platform is designed to do this one job exceptionally well and stay out of the rest of your business. It’s a straightforward, collaborative tool to manage selections and share them with subcontractors, built for the demands of high-end, custom projects.

We’re a small team with a clear mission: to simplify selections for bespoke builders and designers. We’re not here to dominate the industry—just to help you create beautiful homes with less hassle.
